Camp Honi Hanta was acquired in 1953 and it consists of 123 acres of beautiful property. We are proud that this is a place where Girl Scouts can play, grow, and learn. Honi Hanta means “Home on the River” and our little home is located on the shores of the Braden River. The camp contains many trails, a play field, a swimming pool, archery, river access for kayaking and canoeing, a ropes course and climbing wall, an air conditioned lodge with a small commercial kitchen, restrooms with shower facilities, and various sleeping accommodations. In 2009, a local community bank donated a 27 acre parcel of land adjacent to camp. The land, which we’ve officially titled “Okeelanta Island” (named for the tidal soil that makes up most of the island), is located directly on the Braden River and is about 60% marshland with an upland strip that goes directly through the center of the property.
